Dog&Cat Rescue

Giny

I’ve devoted the last 2 1/2 years of my life to rescuing stray and abandoned animals in Costa Rica.. I’ve made that decision when I adopted my first rescue cat and pup .. Giny and Nikita. Giny got hit by a rifle bullet and her shoulder was shattered. She had to undergo treatment in San Jose, and spent weeks in a clinic there. She is fine, and kept her leg, but she’s limping her whole life. Nikikta was a stray on the beach and in town, and she had critical mange. I just couldn’t watch her anymore, after seeing her for weeks on end.. getting worse and worse. One day a friend came to my house to visit, and Nikita had followed her.. and voila, I closed her inside my gate, and there she was.

My first rescue pup. Nikita wanted to kill Giny at first, lol, but finally they became great friends.. and soon later, I moved into a bigger house and adopted Theo. Him and Nikita became best friends.

That’s when I started to make plans and fundraisers, and started the organization “Adoptions Osa Peninsula” which is now called Osa Peninsula Rescue and Adoptions, which is a more accurate name.

It’s been since 2013 that I opened up the rescue.. and I had help by some amazing people and volunteers who made this whole thing possible.

Now we have the second big fundraiser going, and somehow the money always keeps flowing in, and I can continue rescue dogs and cats. I also organize spaying and neutering clinics around the Osa Peninsula, which helps with the overpopulation of dogs and cats. There are just soo many here!

After adopting Theo, I also met a nice young Tico, and we are still together until today. He brought into the relationship 3 more dogs, amongst them the Beagle in the picture with Theo and Nikita. Now, we are up to 7 dogs and 4 cats at our house near Puerto Jimenez, and I couldn’t be happier being surrounded by all the furry love.

If you want to find out more, click on my latest fundraiser! You can claim hotel stays and tourist activities around the Osa Peninsula in return for a donation! Super great opportunity to save some money on hotel stays – since they’re all discounted rates.
